A kabuki actor who carries Nakamura Kashō, a hereditary name of the Harimaya house. He took the fourth generation of it in 2011, in the same production in which his father succeeded as Nakamura Matagorō.
According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, he was born on 6 May 1989, the eldest son of Nakamura Matagorō. He made his stage debut in June 1994 at the Kabukiza, at the thirty-third memorial for Nakamura Tokizō IV, as a young traveller in Michiyuki Tabiji no Yomeiri, under the name Nakamura Tanetarō IV.
In September 2011 he took the name Nakamura Kashō IV at the Shinbashi Enbujō, as Senzai in Shitadashi Sanbasō, and was promoted to nadai in January 2015. In 2018 he received collective recognition as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Kabuki Actor Directory).
What They Inherit
He took up the name his father laid down, on the same day. A kabuki succession is also an occasion for names to move sideways within a house.
