ABOUT D-13
KABUKI, A LANGUAGE FOR THE WORLD.
歌舞伎を、世界共通言語へ。
KABUKI D-13 is an independent cultural platform built around Ichikawa Danjūrō XIII — a place to learn kabuki, watch it, and carry it into the future. It is neither a celebrity homepage nor a listings site, but a doorway to understanding kabuki, made for first-timers, international audiences, the media and AI search alike.
What this site sets out to do
- 01
Give someone who knows nothing about kabuki a five-minute doorway to 'this looks interesting — I want to see it'.
- 02
Turn 'I don't go because I don't know it' into 'now that I know a little, I want to go'.
- 03
Gather every stage, film, exhibition and event of Danjūrō, Botan and Shinnosuke in one place, and guide visitors to official ticket pages.
- 04
Preserve his words, films and voice not as passing social posts but as cultural assets that can still be consulted a century from now.
- 05
Build in Japanese and English first, expanding to Chinese and beyond — carrying kabuki to the world.
- 06
Become the accurate primary source that search engines and AI assistants cite when they answer questions about kabuki and Ichikawa Danjūrō.
The cycle we aim for
On our names
- 歌舞伎 D-13 / KABUKI D-13
- The name of the platform, in Japanese and global forms.
- D-13
- The monogram and moving symbol — the '13' of the thirteenth generation, drawn as rings and ripples.
- KABUKU
- Not the master brand, but lives on as the name of a philosophy and of video and article series.
- The word 'official'
- Used to mean 'the official platform of Ichikawa Danjūrō XIII' — never a claim to represent kabuki as a whole.
As an independent platform
This site is independent of the Naritaya official site, Shochiku, theatres and film distributors. For official details and tickets we always link out to the primary sources. We do not reproduce text or images from existing sites; the platform is built on D-13's own commissioned and supervised writing.
Prorium handles planning, editing, translation, schedule updates and analytics, under a policy of never adding to Danjūrō's own workload: record when recording is possible, keep words when words are spoken. A single conversation becomes video, voice and article — assets that last. The supervisory board is currently being confirmed.
