A kabuki actor who carries Nakamura Baigyoku, the principal name of the Takasagoya house, having taken the fourth generation of it in 1992. He was recognised as a Living National Treasure in 2022.
According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, he was born on 2 August 1946. In April 1992 he took the name Nakamura Baigyoku IV at the Kabukiza, as Konoshita Tōkichi in Kinkakuji and Mitsugi in Ise Ondo. The Directory records his election to the Japan Art Academy in 2013 and recognition as a Living National Treasure in 2022.
What They Inherit
He shares an adoptive father with Nakamura Kaishun, who made his debut on the same day. From there, two paths diverged — into Kagaya and into Takasagoya.
