A kabuki actor who carries Nakamura Fukusuke, a hereditary name of the Narikomaya house, having taken the ninth generation of it in 1992. He is the eldest son of Nakamura Shikan VII.
According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, he was born on 29 October 1960. He made his stage debut in April–May 1967 at the Kabukiza as the headman's son Eizō in Nozakimura, under the name Nakamura Kotarō V, and qualified for nadai in 1981.
In April 1992 he took the name Nakamura Fukusuke IX at the Kabukiza, as Yukihime in Kinkakuji and the shirabyōshi Hanako in Musume Dōjōji — both major onnagata roles (Kabuki Actor Directory).
What They Inherit
The name Kotarō, which he took at his own debut, is now carried by his eldest son.
