Narikomaya

なりこまやNarikomayaAlso called: Nakamura Shikan family (Utaemon line)Crest: Gionmamori and ura-ume

Narikomaya is the yagō (house name) of the Nakamura Shikan family. According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, the current Nakamura Shikan, the eighth, took the name at the Kabukiza in October–November 2016. Those who carry the house's names are sons or grandsons of Shikan VII. Nakamura Utaemon V was known for the role of Yodogimi, and the Yodogimi-shū, gathering his signature roles, is handed down as the house art.

According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, Nakamura Shikan VIII is the second son of Shikan VII; he took the name Nakamura Hashinosuke III in 1980 and became Shikan VIII at the Kabukiza in October–November 2016. Nakamura Fukusuke IX, the eldest son of Shikan VII, took his name in April 1992 as Yukihime in Kinkakuji and the shirabyōshi Hanako in Musume Dōjōji.

Nakamura Hashinosuke IV, Nakamura Fukunosuke III and Nakamura Utanosuke IV are the first, second and third sons of Shikan VIII, and all took their names at the Kabukiza in October–November 2016. Nakamura Kotarō VI is the eldest son of Fukusuke IX (Kabuki Actor Directory). The three brothers made their debuts at the Kabukiza in September 2000, at the sixtieth-anniversary commemoration of Utaemon V.

The house art is the Yodogimi-shū. The Kabuki Play Guide records that Nakamura Utaemon V won acclaim as Yodogimi in Tsubouchi Shōyō's Kiri Hitoha and Hototogisu Kojō no Rakugetsu, and that the name 'the Yodogimi actor' stuck to him. The origin of the house name Narikomaya is left unstated here until a primary source confirms it.
