NAKAMURA KANZABURŌ — MYŌSEKI
Nakamura Kanzaburō
Nakamura Kanzaburō is the principal hereditary name of the Nakamuraya house. The Kabuki Encyclopedia records that the proprietors of the Nakamura-za playhouse in Edo took this name from generation to generation, and that from Kanzaburō XVII, active in the Shōwa era, the family has been actors by profession. The present status of the name is not stated in the sources gathered, so this site does not assert it.
The Kabuki Encyclopedia notes that some of the proprietors were also actors. The Kabuki Actor Directory records Nakamura Kankurō VI and Nakamura Shichinosuke II as the eldest and second sons of Nakamura Kanzaburō XVIII.
