A kabuki actor who carries Ichikawa Omezō, the principal name of the Takinoya house, having taken the sixth generation of it in 2003. He is the eldest son of Ichikawa Sadanji IV.
According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, he was born on 9 October 1967. He first appeared in January 1973 at the Kabukiza as the daughter Otsū in Sakaya, and made his stage debut in February 1974 as the young Michimaro in Tōdaiki, under the name Ichikawa Otora VI.
In May 2003 he took the name Ichikawa Omezō VI at the Kabukiza, as Narita no Gorō in Shibaraku. The Directory notes that he carries on his father's specialities, citing Asagao Senbei in Sukeroku, a role Sadanji I also played. His father too bore Otora and Omezō before succeeding to Sadanji — the same path.
What They Inherit
He has taken his names in the same order as his father, yet his yagō is Takinoya, not Takashimaya. By the Directory's record, one bloodline here carries two house names.
