ICHIKAWA OMEZŌ — MYŌSEKI
Ichikawa Omezō
Ichikawa Omezō is the principal hereditary name of the Takinoya house. According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, the current holder, the sixth, is the eldest son of Ichikawa Sadanji IV; he took the name in May 2003 at the Kabukiza as Narita no Gorō in Shibaraku. Sadanji IV himself bore this name before succeeding to Sadanji.
The Directory notes that he carries on the specialities of his father Ichikawa Sadanji, including Asagao Senbei in Sukeroku, a role Sadanji I also played. He made his stage debut in February 1974 under the name Ichikawa Otora VI.
