SAWAMURA TŌJŪRŌ — MYŌSEKI
Sawamura Tōjūrō
Sawamura Tōjūrō is a hereditary name of the Kinokuniya house. According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, the current holder, the second, is the second son of Sawamura Sōjūrō VIII; he took the name at the Kabukiza in September 1976 as Shinobu in Shiraishibanashi.
He made his stage debut in January 1957 at the Kabukiza as Ohisa in the ninth act of Chūshingura, under the name Sawamura Kiyoshirō, and received collective recognition as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property in 1972 (Kabuki Actor Directory).
