Yorozuya

The Kabuki Encyclopedia's entry on the Nakamura house (Karoku–Kichiemon line) records that the younger brother of Nakamura Kichiemon I was Nakamura Tokizō III, and refers to both Tokizō III and IV. According to the Kabuki Actor Directory, Yorozuya Kinnosuke, the fourth son of Tokizō III, changed the house name from Harimaya to Yorozuya in 1971 and took the name Yorozuya Kinnosuke the following year.

Later, according to Kabuki-bito, at the Shūzan-sai September Grand Kabuki at the Shinbashi Enbujō in September 2010, the house name of Nakamura Karoku, Nakamura Kashō (now Nakamura Matagorō III) and others changed from Yorozuya back to Harimaya. As these two sources record, Yorozuya and Harimaya are houses whose members have moved between the two names.

According to the Kabuki Actor Directory and Kabuki-bito, at the June Grand Kabuki at the Kabukiza in June 2024, Nakamura Tokizō VI took his name and Tokizō V became Nakamura Manju I; Nakamura Baishi V made his stage debut in the same production. Nakamura Shidō is a grandson of Tokizō III, and Nakamura Kinnosuke the second son of Tokizō IV (Kabuki Actor Directory).

Neither the Kabuki Encyclopedia nor the Kabuki Play Guide records a codified repertoire for this house. The origin of the name Yorozuya itself is left unstated until a primary source confirms it.
